Sobrato's defense, meanwhile, worked a scoreless second half while holding the 76ers to four first downs -- two on Independence's final drive.Sorce was nearly perfect in the pocket, compliments of a solid night by Sobrato's offensive line. He was sacked once.Cavanaugh rushed for a game-high 144 yards on 21 carries, including a 2-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. The Bulldogs cut into the 11-point deficit on their first drive of the second half, capping an eight-play series with Jackson's touchdown run up the middle. Jackson took a delayed handoff and broke away almost untouched into the end zone.Sobrato got lucky on the ensuing extra-point try. Playing as holder, Sorce fielded a bouncing snap, rolled to his right and lobbed a pass to Patrick Bacciarelli for a two-point conversion, making it 21-18.After Independence (1-4, 0-2) went three and out, the Bulldogs struck again. Cavanaugh hauled in Sorce's pass at midfield, shook off a defender, then raced to the goal line.Independence was in control early in the game but lost rhythm after star tailback Derek Muaava went down with an ankle injury in the first quarter.
