Catoosa County News - The Catoosan who won the Chattanooga Idol contest Aug. 2 sponsored by FOX61 and 96.5 The Mountain, gave a valiant effort but ultimately did not move farther in the “American Idol” competition.Chasity Jones and her husband Steve traveled to Jacksonville, Fla. for the Aug. 13 audition.“I took my letter that Fox 61 gave me to the mean guy who was insulting everyone in the name of good television,” she said on her web site blog. “They told me that I'd go in front and got to skip the line. I got in front of the producers and rocked out a version of ‘Precious Lord’ but unfortunately, it was not what they were looking for.”She said she was well received by the roughly 10,000 fans in Jacksonville.“I don't really know why I wasn't chosen but I feel like God has a plan for me,” she said. “This set back may prove to be a blessing later on down the road. “I really want to thank all of the people who have supported me in my quest for American Idol,” she said. “It has been an exciting go, but it was not meant for me.”Chattanooga Idol winner Chasity Jones will appear at Fort Oglethorpe Baptist Church with The Ball Brothers Sun-day, Aug. 24 at 6 p.m.According to Rebecca Frank, Fox 61 creative services director; the station will feature Jones as the Chattanooga Idol winner while she holds that title.Jones will continue making numerous appearances including Elwood Smooch’s Choo Choo Cha Boogie Show at the Choo Choo Theater in Chattanooga, Tenn.
