MPC Computers lays off workers

Idaho Pres-Tribune - NAMPA - Nampa-based MPC Computers today announced an unspecified number of layoffs at both its Nampa and Sioux City, N.D., locations. The news came on the heels of last week's announcement of more than 1,500 local high-tech job cuts at Boise's Micron Technology. The company could not provide numbers or other specifics such as severance options related to the layoffs, and a spokesman said it plans to release more information Friday. Idaho Pres-Tribune - Reports of HIV infection are up in the Gem State more than 20 percent from last year, according to state health officials.So far this year, 37 people have been reported with HIV or AIDS, and more reports are under investigation. A 23 percent increase over reports from the same time last year, the numbers include 13 cases involving individuals under 25 years of age.
