Officer sees large knife, busts robbery Found: 1 Week 1 Day 18 Hours 55 Minutes ago The Gazette - Police broke up a robbery at a convenience store Sunday night after seeing a man armed with a large knife.Officers with the police department's Street Crimes Action Team were already doing surveillance on a car at Gasby's, 1310 S. Gilbert St., when two men got out of the car and entered the store just after 10 p.m.The team asked for help from Officer Andy Rich, who was on duty nearby. As he approached the store, Rich noticed two people crouched beside a car and pointing at the business. Then he noticed the two men inside, one of whom was armed with a large knife, robbing the store.Rich went inside and confronted the suspects, for fear that they would harm the clerk. He took one of them custody immediately, but the other one fled. That man was caught by the Street Crimes Action Team and a K-9 unit.An investigation found that one of the men threatened to cut and shoot the clerk during the robbery. No one was injured during the robbery or arrests. Police recovered a knife and money near the scene.The suspects arrested were identified as Ahkinea Deon Cox, 29, and Frederick Reid, 26. Cox was charged with first degree robbery, operating while intoxicated and interference with official acts. Reid also faces first degree robbery charges, along with possession of cocaine.An investigation continues regarding the incident....
