Wichita Eagle - A Centerviille, Kan., teen has pleaded guilty to killing his father, a retired army officer and assistant scoutmaster.Christopher Wottlin, 16, pleaded guilty late last month in Linn County to a juvenile charge of involuntary manslaughter for shooting Robert Wottlin, 56, on Labor Day of this year.The boy originally was charged with a juvenile count of unintentional but reckless second-degree murder for the killing at a farm near Centerville in eastern Kansas. His 13-year-old brother was on the farm property then.The family lived in Johnson County for years and was active in the Boy Scouts there before moving to the farm a few years ago. The boys’ mother divorced her husband in 2000. The younger Wottlin was an Eagle Scout.Few details of the case have been made public. A judge has scheduled sentencing for December. Punishment could range from probation to being held in juvenile custody until the teen is 25....
