When contemplating Patrick Patterson 's many attributes, don't forget one that's easily overlooked: he's a good listener.
Would any opposition scouting report or NBA scout note how well Patterson listens? Surely not.
But Patterson's coaches . independently of each other . recently lauded the player's attentiveness.
"He's really a good listener," UK Coach Billy Gillispie said at the Southeastern Conference Media Days last week. "He's a great listener . as good a listener as I've been around. He listens with his eyes 100 percent of the time. He really does listen. You really don't have to tell Patrick things over and over." ...

Lexington Hearld-Leader - A prosecutor on Wednesday portrayed eccentric musical genius Phil Spector as a man who repeatedly threatened women with guns and could become "very sinister, very violent and very deadly"when he was drunk.The opening statement by prosecutor Alan Jackson in Spector's retrial on a murder charge drew scrutiny from defense attorney Doron Weinberg, who called it an effort to try Spector for his character, rather than for the crime he is accused of committing.Prosecutors claim Spector shot actress Lana Clarkson in 2003 after she resisted his sexual advances."This is turning into the trial of his character, which this court knows is clearly unconstitutional and impermissible,"Weinberg told Superior Court Judge Larry Fidler outside the jury's presence.Weinberg later moved for a mistrial, saying the jury had been intentionally poisoned by the remarks. Lexington Hearld-Leader - Once Martin Brodeur got done with Sean Avery and the Dallas Stars, there was nothing for the NHL's primary pest to say. So he stayed silent. The last word belonged to Brodeur, and that word was shutout.
Brodeur made 21 saves for his 98th NHL blanking, and mostly avoided Avery, his No. 1 nemesis, to help the New Jersey Devils beat the Stars 5-0 on Wednesday night.
"It's a lot," Brodeur said of his shutout total. "I'm just fortunate to play on a team that cares about playing well defensively."
And when things broke down in front of him, Brodeur stood tall.
His best early stop came against Avery, who quickly one-timed a shot in the slot in the first period. Brodeur also flopped on his back into the net, while holding his glove behind his pads to keep the puck out in the second, and denied Mike Ribeiro on a breakaway in the third....
