The State - The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, will charge three men in connection with the killing of an Aiken man.Frederick L. Tucker, 39, of Old Barnwell Road, Aiken, was found shot death at his home. Melvin L. Cummings, 26, of Bowling Avenue, Columbia, will be charged with burglary –first degree, possession of firearm during commission of a violent crime, armed robbery, kidnapping and murder.Antonio G. Miller, 30, North Main Street, Columbia, will be charged with burglary –first degree, possession of firearm during commission of a violent crime, armed robbery, kidnapping and murder.Marquise C. Redfield, 34, of Whiskey Road, Aiken, will be charged with burglary –first degree, possession of firearm during commission of a violent crime, armed robbery, kidnapping and murder.On Monday night, Richland County deputies said they went to Miller’s home, where they found an automobile the subject failed to return to a rental company. They reported finding drugs and guns in the automobile, and discovered more drugs and guns in the home during a subsequent search. In addition, investigators said they found evidence in the home linking the men to Tucker’s killing....

Richland traffic stop leads to slaying arrest

The State - A traffic stop Monday evening by Richland County sheriff’s deputies led them to link three men to a killing earlier in the day in Aiken County, an Aiken County Sheriff’s Department release said.Richland deputies stopped the suspects’ rented vehicle about 6:20 p.m. in the 5500 block of North Main Street in Columbia. They found drugs and guns in the vehicle and at a home during a subsequent search, Aiken deputies said.The names of the suspects and their charges were not released Monday night.The victim, Frederick L. Tucker, 39, was robbed and shot in his Old Barnwell Road home in Aiken Monday morning, Aiken deputies said.A manhunt began after a neighbor saw two men running out of Tucker’s home and found Tucker’s body inside the front door, deputies said....

The State - Small businesses and nonprofits in 13 counties can apply for loans to cover damage from hail storms earlier this year, the U.S. Small Business Administration said.The loans are available to small businesses, agricultural cooperatives and most private, nonprofit groups affected by the May 11-20 hail storms.
