Tigers looking to finish strong against Dordt

The Daily Republic - It's been a big week for the Dakota Wesleyan University football team.
It all started last Saturday when the Tigers beat Northwestern, ranked No. 12 in the country at the time. The good things continued Monday for DWU when Kurtis Lane was named the defensive player of the week by the GPAC, the NAIA and the Victory Sports Network; Bubba Slaba was named the GPAC's offensive player of the week and the team entered the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll at No. 25.
After a huge win and a week of honors and accolades, today's game - on paper at least - should be a cakewalk for the No. 25 Tigers. Dakota Wesleyan plays Dordt College, a first-year varsity program with a 1-8 record, today at 1 p.m. at Joe Quintal Field.

The Daily Republic - Christmas came early for the Dakota Wesleyan University football team this year.
Saturday, the Tigers beat then No. 12 Northwestern 17-6 in Orange City, Iowa, for the first time in school history.
Monday, wide receiver Bubba Slaba and defensive end Kurtis Lane were named GPAC players of the weeks. Lane was also the NAIA defensive player of the week and the Victory Sports Network player of the week.
As if that wasn't enough, DWU made its first appearance in the NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll Monday afternoon at No. 25. The Red Raiders fell all the way to No. 21 with the loss.
