"I want to assure parents, despite this isolated incident, our schools are safe," Superintendent Jim McIntyre said at a press conference with law enforcement this afternoon. McIntyre said students need to be able to return to a structured routine after a crisis such as today's shooting.

Knoxville News Sentinel - The 15-year-old suspect in the fatal shooting of another student at Central High School today made his first appearance in Knox County Juvenile Court this afternoon. Jamar B. Siler is charged with first-degree murder and violation of probation. Court documents don't specify the violation. His attorney, Public Defender Mark Stephens, said he needs time to conduct a psychological evaluation on the boy.
